Central Testing Facility (CTF) Bilingual (English and Spanish) Clinical Technician

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Examiner(s) with vision function (efficacy endpoint) testing and ophthalmic imaging (optical coherence tomography) on subjects with retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and potentially other inherited retinal disorders in future clinical trials
  • Provide Spanish translation for administration of quality of life questionnaires (VA LV VFQ-48 and EQ-5D-5L), as needed
  • Upload worksheets, printouts and imaging files into electronic data capture
  • Enter data from worksheets and printouts into electronic case report forms
  • Prepare source packet documentation for delivery to originating sites
  • Perform correction of transcription/transposition errors on source documents and/or electronic case report forms as directed by the Contract Research Organization, when necessary
  • Use sighted guide techniques to escort subjects in and around the testing facility

Qualifications:

Knowledge, experience and skills typically developed by a strong track record of accomplishment in the field of clinical trials/research

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Proficiency in computers and relevant software applications (EyeSuite, HEYEX) preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to be flexible and multitask
  • Exhibit high level of quality in work product, through attention to detail and monitoring of work
  • Excellent track record of working effectively with multidisciplinary teams with different backgrounds and cultures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal communication with patients and their families
  • Must be detail focused, especially in time-sensitive environments, and maintain a sense of urgency amongst team to adhere to crucial deadlines
  • Innate flexibility to work in a rapidly growing matrixed environment with a dynamic ability to react to unforeseen circumstances

Education and experience:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in ophthalmic and/or optometric practice(s) as a clinical technician
  • Direct patient experience with low vision patients, specifically those with RP, strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of clinical practice operations
